Vecchia posta

Old Post Station

An old post station in the woods.

It was a place designated for the temporary stop of carriages.

The first were pulled by oxen, later replaced by horses, and transported people and goods. These post stations were used for brief stops and for changing horses.

Etching

The etching, an indirect engraving technique, derives its name from the Latin "aquafortis," referring to the acid used: nitric acid. Typically, etchings are numbered from 1 to 100, but I have chosen to create more limited editions to provide further value to the works.

Proces

Etching is a metal engraving technique used to create images. The process begins by covering a plate of copper or zinc with an acid-resistant varnish. The artist then engraves the design into the varnish, exposing the underlying metal.

The plate is then immersed in an acid bath, corrodes the exposed areas, creating the engravings. After rinsing, ink is applied to the plate, which is then pressed onto paper to transfer the image.
